504 Gatetime timeout in dev rpc

Hi, when attempting to log into web3auth using custom verification in node mode (backend) with sapphire_devnet.

I keep getting rpc gateway timeouts.

Is this a legitimate service degrade for devnet or there is something wrong in my instantiation/integration?

If it’s a service degradation, where can I view status for devnet if at all? Thanks.

Hi JC,

Thank you for reaching out! It sounds like you’re encountering a 504 Gateway Timeout error while attempting to log in using Web3Auth’s Plug n Play SDK with custom verification in node mode, specifically on the sapphire_devnet. Let’s see how we can assist!

From your message, here’s what I’ve gathered:

  • Platform: Backend
  • Error: 504 Gateway Timeout
  • URLs experiencing timeout: Multiple dev-node Web3Auth endpoints

Steps You Can Take:

  1. Check Service Status:
It might indeed be a service degradation on devnet. You can check the current status of the Web3Auth services by visiting their status page to see if there are any ongoing issues.

  2. Integration Review:
To ensure there’s nothing amiss with your integration:

    • Could you share your Web3Auth initialization and login code snippets? That might help us spot any potential issues.
    • It’s also useful to look at any custom verification settings you have configured.
  3. Verify Custom Auth Setup:

    • If you’re using your own authentication provider, please check if the JWKS Endpoint and the JWT token are configured correctly.

Let us know if the status page reflects any issues, or share additional details if the problem persists. We’re here to help you get this sorted!

Best,

Hey, if you were using the Sapphire Devnet, sorry for the inconvience. We were updating our Devnet which might have caused the issue. The timeframe of the issue on Devnet was from 4:00 PM SGT to 6:30 PM SGT. Can you please check if it works now.

If you were not on Sapphire Devnet, please share the login code snippet so we can debug more

thanks indeed it started working after the time frame that you mentioned yesterday.
Is there a status page that we may observe the status of devnet services?

No, we don’t have one for Devnet as you can’t use it for production application. You can check the Mainnet status here: https://status.web3auth.io/
