Issue in Verification

I have been unable to Login to a dapp - because the login for Web3Auth asks for multiple verifications. I have attached the screenshot for reference.

I am unable to find where i reach out for the recovery phrase, neither do i remember it asked me for any recovery password when i created the account.

Any help would be great. Thank you

Hi Waqas,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing the screenshot! It looks like you’re encountering a verification issue with Web3Auth’s Plug n Play SDK. Let’s try to get this sorted out for you.

Steps to Consider:

  1. Recovery Phrase / Recovery Password:
Since you mentioned not receiving or noting a recovery phrase or password, it would be helpful to verify your registration process with Web3Auth. You can check if there were any alternate recovery methods offered or if you have initiated the account setup with any third-party login providers that might bypass the need for a recovery phrase.

  2. Browser Console:
Please check your browser’s console for any errors or logs related to Web3Auth. This information can sometimes provide additional insights into the verification process.

  3. Documentation & Guides:
Here are a few resources that might help you further:

Could you share any initialisation or login code snippets that might help pinpoint the issue further? This could aid in understanding the specific integration approach you’re using for the dApp.

Feel free to provide any additional details or screenshots if you come across anything unusual in the logs or errors.

Looking forward to helping you further!

Hey @royalreality007,

Thanks for sharing the screenshot, you’re seeing here is the MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) prompt that appears when a new device is detected and MFA was previously set up on your account.

Let me clarify a few important things:

  • If you’re seeing options like Recovery Phrase or Recovery Password, it means you had set them up during a previous session, either explicitly or implicitly during an MFA flow (some apps make recovery password mandatory).
  • If you don’t remember setting a password or don’t have your recovery phrase, unfortunately we cannot reset or bypass this. Web3Auth is a non-custodial solution, which means:
    • We don’t store your keys or recovery factors.
    • We can’t access or recover them on your behalf.
  • For security reasons, we never send the recovery phrase to the same email used for login — that would defeat the point of MFA. So if you found a phrase in that inbox, it’s likely from a different dApp where your email acted as an alternate.

If all three options fail (Device, Phrase, Password) — there’s no way to recover the existing account, and the only option is to log in again to generate a new wallet via a new email.
