tKey SDK not working without

When running my own setup or GitHub - tkey/tkey-example: Demo app for tkey SDK, I get this error:
Please provide a valid web3AuthClientId in constructor

According to the docs, this should not be needed. What am I doing wrong?

Hey @malte

Please use the latest example from web3auth-core-kit-examples/tkey-web at main · Web3Auth/web3auth-core-kit-examples · GitHub

Hi @shahbaz, thank you for pointing me in this direction. I have been tinkering with this the tkey-react-redirect-example from this repo for several days. It seems to be impossible to use it without google login. I see the same behavior on Web3Auth | Tech Demo, which for me does not work when I do not login with google.

As my goal was to explore ways of recovering the private key from key shares without the torus network (scenario: it is unreachable), this does not help.

  1. Does tKey only work with social login?
  2. Are there any contingency routes for when the torus network or the central metadata database are unavailable?

Hi there @malte,

  1. You can make it work with a different share. Metadata is made redundant across shares that you might start with. Try out initialising the SDK with an input of ShareStore.
  2. We have both a legal commitment and technical routes to ensuring exportability, would recommend hopping on a call with our enterprise team so that we could best understand how far you’d like that guarantee.

@zhen Can you please put me in touch with this enterprise team?

@malte We you able to get in touch with our team. Do you need any further assistance?
