I am a user of bless network. I did logged in using google account in December 2024. Now when i tried to login again it opens up a pop up windows saying new device detected. Now I can only verify the device by one way is through device verification. But the browser version showed in that pop up is Chrome V131.0.0.0 but my browser is updated to Version 135.0.7049.42 (Official Build) (64-bit). It gave a note above saying “Login to auth.web3auth.io from any of the following devices to complete the security verification.”. After going through most of the topic I logged in here using the same google account . But it created a new account and I got a recovery phrase. Now the biggest confusion is I have the same gmail account showed in social part of authentication. But the devices are different. So the recovery phrase if for the current browser version. Attached pictures of console log ( auth never loads. Also a network tab xhr calls which fails. If the call is successful it returns a empty json.
Thanks for reaching out to us with your detailed issue description. It looks like you are experiencing a problem related to device verification while logging into Web3Auth using your Google account. Let’s see if we can find a solution for you.
Based on your information, you’re using Plug and Play SDK, and you’re having trouble with device verification due to a browser version mismatch. Web3Auth places a security check when a new device is detected, and this might be causing the system to think it’s a new environment.
Here’s what I gathered from your information:
You’re using Chrome, but there’s a version mismatch being detected in the pop-up (Chrome V131.0.0.0 vs. your actual Chrome Version 135.0.7049.42).
You received a new recovery phrase suggesting the creation of a new account upon your last login.
The correct Gmail account is showing up, but the device is different.
Here are some steps you can follow to try and resolve the issue:
Clear Browser Cache and Cookies: Sometimes, issues like these can be cache-related. Clear your cache and cookies, and try logging in again.
Check for Extensions: Disable any browser extensions temporarily that might interfere with authentication processes.
Use Incognito/Private Mode: This can help bypass any caching issues your browser might have.
Verify Time Settings: Ensure your system’s date and time are correct, as incorrect settings can sometimes affect authentication.
Network Restrictions: Ensure there are no network filters or firewalls that might be blocking Web3Auth services.
You mentioned that you have already gone through several topics, and have attached console logs and network tab errors. Those are extremely helpful for our support team. If you could also provide the specific error message from the console logs and the exact endpoint that returns an empty JSON, it would be very useful.
Regarding the creation of a new account with the same Google account, it suggests an issue linking the existing login session with your earlier device/browser setting. The recovery phrase is linked to the new session, which is why it’s given to you.
Please try the above solutions and let us know if the issue persists. You can also refer to our Web3Auth documentation for additional troubleshooting tips. If the problem continues, our support team is ready to dive deeper into your issue with the information you’ve provided.
We’re here to help, so don’t hesitate to reach out again if you need more assistance!
