Web3Auth gmail login giving different wallets

I have created two projects on Optimism MainNet. I am using same gmail address to login into both projects but I am getting a different wallet.

Is there something I am missing or a user has a different wallet for each web3auth app they use?

Web3Auth accounts are scoped to applications (clientId) which generate different wallet addresses.

The other reasons are:

  • Different verifiers being used
  • Different client ids
  • Different social logins (email passwordless and google is not same)
  • Torus wallet accounts are different from web3auth accounts.

Thanks for clarifying this. Just a hypothetical question based on that, If suppose for some reason, I need to change the project in the future, I cannot port over the wallets from the older project to the new one? All the users will have new wallets?

You can transfer the verifiers and client id of the project on the dashboard. However, you should ensure to properly transfer ownership of verifiers so that they can be edited it in the future. Please refer to the below documentation for more details:

For the same project/projects you want the same key on the right method is to use the same clientID
